Character Role Analysis

Kat

Kat is Yoda here. He teaches Paul the ropes (or wires) and is broadly respected by the men for his talent, not his military rank. His talent is his sharp natural instinct, specifically his ability to sense danger and find food. Kat puts others' interests ahead of his, especially Paul's and in the midst of this ubiquitous horror, Kat shows Paul how to have fun – goose-hunting, smoking, whatever.
