All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front

by Erich Maria Remarque

Analysis: Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG-13

Other than highly vague references to the men trading army bread for sex from semi-hot French women, we get almost no sexual details in this book. The omission of sex talk around a bunch of nineteen-year-olds is noisier than a ton of talk – something seems amiss here. Maybe the violence of the war subsumed sexual discussion other than a few winks scattered about here and there. Maybe Paul was just shy. You decide.
