Analysis: Trivia

Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge

Rich refused the National Medal of Arts Award in 1997, saying "I could not accept such an award from President Clinton or this White House because the very meaning of art as I understand it is incompatible with the cynical politics of this administration." That's way harsh, Ms. Rich! (Source)

Rich married economist Alfred Haskell Conrad in 1953 and they were together until he killed himself in 1970. Rich later came out as a lesbian and was with her partner Michelle Cliff (a Jamaican-American novelist) for over thirty years. (Source)

In 1994, Rich won a prestigious Macarthur "genius" grant. Woot! (Source)
