Character Role Analysis

Stalin's Nose, Senior Lieutenant

Yes—we had to include Stalin's Nose as a character in here somewhere, right? Along with the Senior Lieutenant of the State Security, our nasally friend acts as an information tool: they both provide Sasha with some scoop that's vital to his development and to the decisions that he ends up making. In particular, the Senior Lieutenant drops some heavy info on him when he reveals that his dad turned in his own wife as a traitor (and the implication is that she was executed for it).
