Your odds are better if you do have that degree and have studied the relevant fields. It also helps if your dad is letting you take over his farm, or if you can find a farm owner who’s looking for someone to handle the business end of things. Starting your own farm from scratch is a little tougher. You’ll need a hoe. But it really depends what “in” is – just being a farm hand is easy. Good gigs for ex-felons – not much to harm out there. But if you want to BE The Man, then things are tougher but it is rare that someone who wants it can’t find a plot of land to love. And if they show the love, it will usually love ‘em back.
