Fame and librarians. Is that an oxymoron? Or just moronic? Let's think of famous librarians. There's Nancy Pearl—who has her own action figure—and...

Aside from the ex-Executive Director of the Washington Center for the Book at Seattle Public Library (say that five times fast), the only famous librarian we can think of is good ol' Benjamin Franklin, and we're not even sure if he counts. Sure, he jump-started the lending library in the colonies, but that doesn't necessarily classify him as a member of the profession.

You may not become famous, but fame isn't everything. Just keep telling yourself that.
