Power

This, this right here, is why you probably want to be a political scientist. Say you become an analyst with the federal government: It's on you to determine whether policies are working or not. Say you become a politician: You make laws that may affect millions of people. Say you become a professor: Not only do you have the opportunity to ruin the lives of your students, but you get to teach them how governments function, too.

You, as a political scientist, will have the power to help people. They could be down the block. They could be on the other side of the world. Just remember what Peter Parker's Uncle Ben said: With great power comes great responsibility…so no advocating for the rise of the radical right in Europe, okay?
