Glory

Definitely a ton of glory to be had in this line of work. You're saving lives, for goodness sake. You're the closest thing we have to a superhero. Even if you were a pretty big nerd in high school. The whole "playing God" motif thing fits.

But, like a soldier heading into battle, the un-glory can be just as bad as the glory can be good. Your commanding officer doesn't appreciate it when you bring down one of your country's own planes with friendly fire; by the same token, you may never be able to live down a stupid error that cost the life of someone on your table. That's really where the similarities between you and a soldier end, however; you get to sleep in significantly more comfortable living quarters.
