Get celebrity clients and you could become mildly famous. David Tutera is one of the most famous wedding planners in the business. He has planned weddings for celebrities like NY Giants player Antonio Pierce and Star Jones (not to each other). Capitalizing on his fame, Tutera launched his own line of jewelry and a television show. Other highly sought after wedding planners include Yifat Oren and Diann Valentine.

To be in the top tier of wedding planning, planners must be able to expand their brand and plan other types of celebrity events. Tutera plans both celebrity and corporate events. Expanding into other events or markets widens your client pool. Also, people get married only one or two times in their lives (Hollywood excluded), while a client may have several events a year. If you want fame, create a distinctive brand that you can market.
