Forbes Magazine listed “wedding planner” as their #6 most stressful career. Ouch. Wedding planning requires weekend work. Do you like traveling in the summer? Forget it. The wedding season is at its busiest during those warm summer months. Also, wedding planners see their business skyrocket right after February 14th. Wonder why? You must be a people person who doesn’t take things too personally. Everyone is trying to achieve the same goal: a perfect wedding. Unfortunately, perfect weddings do not exist, but don’t try telling the bride that. Patience is a major factor when it comes to the job. Wedding planners must be patient with brides, but also in their own career. Most do not book wedding after wedding in their first year. It takes several years of making a name for yourself, producing successful weddings and making the right connections to get referrals.
