Mae Pollitt

Character Analysis

Mae is Gooper's "society" wife, whom he married because she ran in the good and respected social circles. Mae is "a good breeder," as Big Daddy describes, having brought five no-neck monsters into the world, with another on the way. Her family lost all of their money at one point, and she is eager to stake her claim in Big Daddy's millions. Mae hates Maggie. And vice versa.
