Cat's Cradle Chapter 25 Summary

The Main Thing about Dr. Hoenikker

  • John is given over to Naomi Faust to be shown out of the building, but instead he convinces her to show him to Dr. Hoenikker's laboratory.
  • On the way out, John asks her if she knew Dr. Hoenikker. Naomi says she wasn't sure the man was knowable.
  • She says that Dr. Hoenikker didn't talk about family, friends, or love. His main thing was only the truth. And Naomi doesn't see how the truth can be enough for anyone.
  • John notes that Naomi was "ripe for Bokononism" (25.9)
