Cat's Cradle Chapter 8 Summary

Newt's Thing with Zinka

  • Newt doesn't mention his girlfriend's name, but John and the rest of the country find out two weeks later.
  • Her name is Zinka, a Ukrainian midget dancer. Newt saw her performance, and then the two disappeared together.
  • She reappeared at the Russian Embassy, seeking asylum from materialistic Americans.
  • Newt tells reporters it's nobody's business but their own, but that doesn't stop one intrepid newsman from digging around and learning that Zinka isn't twenty-three like she said.
  • She was forty-two.
