Cat's Cradle Chapter 86 Summary

Two Little Jugs

  • John falls asleep only to be awakened by a bunch of loud noises.
  • He rushes out of bed and runs into Angela and Newt, also rushing from their beds.
  • The three realize the power had come back on and the noise was just the electrical equipment coming back to life.
  • Newt points out how John grabbed his passport, billfold, and wristwatch in the confusion. They all laugh.
  • John counters by mentioning how they grabbed thermos jugs.
  • Ha, it's funny because the stuff inside could destroy the entire world. Get it? John sure doesn't.
  • Neither has to confess to what's inside the jugs because John goes to investigate some banging noises.
  • It's Frank Hoenikker, at last! He's fiddling with a power generator on a truck. And Mona is with him.
  • Frank tells John they have to talk right away and in private.
  • John takes a glance at Mona and tells us, again, just how much he wants her.
