Obie

Character Analysis

Obie is secretary of The Vigils. His main duty is to do whatever Archie wants him to, which includes keeping Archie stocked with Hershey's chocolate. He practically worships Archie, and admires Archie's deviousness. But, he also despises and resents him. His greatest wish is to see Archie pick a black marble out of the infamous black box – but we never see that happen. Obie is also a big part of why Jerry gets beat up. Like Brother Leon, he pressures Archie to punish Jerry for "defying The Vigils" (22.63).
