Chomp Theme of Lies and Deceit

Everything we don't like about Derek and his show has to do with the fact that it is all fake but pretends to be real. Nobody likes being lied to, especially when they initially fall for it. Chomp pulls back the curtain and shows readers that reality is in the world—in experiences themselves—and not in someone else's version of it.

Questions About Lies and Deceit

  1. Does it matter if reality TV is staged? Why? How does this type of deceit affect the actors? The public?
  2. What impact do you think this type of show has on the environment at large?
  3. Have you ever been lied to by someone you trusted? How did you feel?

Chew on This

Try on an opinion or two, start a debate, or play the devil’s advocate.

Reality TV is not worth watching since it is not real life.

People would rather be lied to than to see how boring/routine/tame the truth is.
