Grade 8

Speaking and Listening SL.8.4

Present claims and findings, emphasizing salient points in a focused, coherent manner with relevant evidence, sound valid reasoning, and well-chosen details; use appropriate eye contact, adequate volume, and clear pronunciation.

More people fear public speaking than they do death. But what does that mean for eighth graders?

Well, let's just hope Death doesn't show up and ask them for the speech of their lives.

On the bright side, if that actually does happen, as long as students follow this Common Core Standard, they'll be ready. Just make sure that students learn how give speeches that make a lot of sense. Who knows, maybe they'll be able to say they beat both public speaking and Death!
