The Count of Monte Cristo

The Count of Monte Cristo

by Alexandre Dumas

The Count of Monte Cristo Chapter 67 Summary

At the Office of the King's Attorney

  • Mrs. Danglars visits Villefort at his office, and the two are freaked out by the fact that the Count may know about their past and about the fact that they killed their child.
  • However, Villefort knows that the Count is lying – the Count couldn't possibly have found the baby's skeleton, because Villefort knows that Bertuccio took the baby with him after trying to kill him.
  • Their child is still alive, Villefort guesses.
  • How does the Count know so much about their past? Villefort pledges to get to the bottom of this and to figure out who this Count of Monte Cristo dude really is.
