  • Maximilian visits his sweetheart, Valentine, but she's looking kind of green in the gills. Something's not quite right with her – anything she drinks tastes bitter.
  • Mrs. Danglers and Eugénie pay Valentine a visit. They announce that Eugénie will marry Andrea Cavalcanti soon.
  • Eugénie is really unhappy about this marriage. She just wants to live free as a bee as an artist.
  • Valentine returns to Max and Noirtier, and, now, she's really not feeling well.
  • Valentine passes out.
