Antagonist

Character Role Analysis

Jean De Daumier-Smith

Jean's grief over his mother is intense, so intense that he seems in danger of destroying himself. This seemingly self-destructive tendency in Jean is responsible for much of the suspense in the story. We are always holding our breath waiting to see what this bad-boy artist will do next.
