- Anne continues to get criticized for being a bad kid. She’s trying to keep herself from telling everyone what she thinks of them, and is trying to use humor to deal with the constant scolding.
- Anne decides to let her shorthand go for a little while. Her eyes have gotten really bad, but it is impossible to find a safe way to get glasses.
- The family is thinking of getting one of the protectors to take Anne to see an eye doctor. The decision hasn’t been made yet, though.
- Anne and Margot begin to help Miep with office work like filing.
