Guide Mentor

Character Role Analysis

Father Flynn

The priest guides the Guizacs (who are Catholic) both spiritually in his role as priest, and physically to Mrs. McIntyre's farm, though he probably wishes he hadn't done the latter. He tries to be Mrs. McIntyre's spiritual guide, but she isn't interested. At the end of the story she is forced to listen to what he has to say. Whether she wants to learn about Catholic doctrines or not is left to the imagination of the reader.
