Come vampire army or Volturi, Alice is not willing to give up her graduation party. In general, the idea of killing newborn vampires doesn't faze the Cullens too much. It actually quite excites them.
Edward plans to go on a hunting trip, so he drives Bella to La Push to hang out with Jacob. Jacob knows that Edward can read minds, so he quickly tortures Edward with some "impolite" thoughts about Bella.
Bella invites Jacob to the Cullens' graduation party, but he doesn't seem to be interested.
While Jacob sleeps, exhausted from running nightly shifts to cover the werewolf territory and Bella's house, Bella ponders her transformation and decides that it's worth marrying Edward so he will be the one to transform her:

When Jacob wakes up, he tells Bella there's something he needs to tell her:
"I'm in love with you, Bella. And I want you to pick me instead of him… I need the truth out there so that you know your options." (14.185)
