  • It’s drizzling and Frederic invites the priest up to his room. He comes up briefly, and they talk about the war and how it might or might not end. Frederic tells him he’s going to the front tomorrow, and the priest says they can talk when Frederic returns.
  • They say good-bye, and Frederic is very tired.
