  • At three that morning, during a storm, the bartender, Emilio, comes to the room to tell Frederic that he will be arrested in the morning and should leave immediately.
  • Frederic wakes Catherine. They pack and go to meet Emilio by the boat. Frederic offers to pay for the boat, but Emilio says to send him the money when they are safe.
