Popeye's famous catchphrase is "Well, blow me down!" He first appeared in a comic strip called Thimble Theatre in 1929, but eventually graduated to the big leagues with his own strip and later, television show. (Source)

Ashbery won the Yale Younger Poets Series award after the judge, the British poet W.H. Auden, personally requested that he submit his work. Auden loved Ashbery's poems, even though he confessed that he didn't understand them very well! (Source)
