Load Fund

Definition:

A mutual fund which charges a (usually up front) commission (also called a load). If you want to invest in the mutual fund, you have to pay up. Since you're paying up front, though, you might be able to enjoy lower fees over time than someone who didn't have to pay out of the gate.
