Robert Jordan's grandfather

Robert Jordan's idol was his grandfather. A Civil War veteran, engaged Republican (American Republican), and accomplished soldier with lots of military experience and insight, Robert Jordan occasionally wishes he could speak to him about his own experiences. He respects him much more than his father.
