The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks
by E. Lockhart
Character Role Analysis
Star and Frankie
Star is Frankie's natural counterpart because they are both the sophomore girlfriends of popular senior boys. Beyond that, though, they don't have much in common. Star represents what Frankie feels like people expect she should be because she's ditzy and does what she's told. She's just grateful to be included amongst the popular kids and is totally fine with being considered cute and harmless. Frankie, on the other hand, wants to make an impression. She wants the seniors to respect her for her intellect, which turns out to be kind of easier said than done.
