It's easy to forget about the French and Indian War.

The conflict happened before the United States came into existence, which means that it sometimes falls outside the "American History" curriculum altogether.  That's a shame, though, and we'd love to see the French and Indian War take its rightful place as a major turning point in the "grand narrative" of American history.
