Character Analysis

When Giovanni escorts Guillaume, Jacques, and David to a café in Les Halles, Jacques sets his sights on a tall, pale boy playing pinball at one of the machines. As David and Giovanni leave, Jacques and the boy, Yves, are caught up in conversation.

After David abandons Giovanni and Giovanni's downfall begins, Giovanni bounces first into the arms of Jacques and then into those of Yves. David gets drunk one night and goes to find Yves and ask him about Giovanni. Yves tells him that Giovanni has left Jacques, and that he might get his job back in Guillaume's bar. A week later, Guillaume is found dead.
