While pregnant with their first and only child, Sophie Mol, Margaret fell in love with a man named Joe. She divorced Chacko, which broke his heart. After Joe is killed in an accident, Margaret Kochamma decides to visit the family in Ayemenem for the holidays. She will always regret this decision.
