Character Analysis

School: Durmstrang

Professor Karkaroff sucks up to Viktor Krum in a huge way, but to all of his other students, he's quite rude. Poliakoff, the only named Durmstrang student besides Viktor Krum, gets told, "I notice you have dribbled food all down the front of your robes again, disgusting boy –" (16.83). (Can you ever imagine Dumbledore saying such a thing?) Obviously, Karkaroff will grovel before fame and power, but if you're lower than him on the totem pole, he'll treat you like dirt.
