Professor Grubbly-Plank

Character Analysis

Professor Grubbly-Plank is Hagrid's regular substitute teacher of Care of Magical Creatures. When Hagrid is missing for the first two months of the school year, Professor Grubbly-Plank steps in. She is popular with Luna and Hermione because she actually conveys useful information (Hagrid, while enthusiastic, is not always the most helpful of professors). However, Harry's loyalty to Hagrid prevents him from wanting Professor Grubbly-Plank to stay. Professor Grubbly-Plank is on hand to heal Hedwig when she gets injured by someone trying to intercept Harry's mail. She does seem like a decent person – we'll give her that, even though we will always prefer Hagrid.
