Roger Daviese

Character Analysis

Roger Davies is a seventh year Ravenclaw Quidditch player. When Harry has his disastrous date with Cho Chang on Valentine's Day, Harry notices Roger Davies making out with a girl at a table near theirs in Madam Puddifoot's teahouse. That's how Harry finally starts to cotton on that Cho has taken him to a hot date spot (Harry is not too quick on the uptake, we have to say). After Harry reveals to Cho that he's going to meet Hermione later that day (never quite realizing that he's making Cho feel bad), Cho fires back, "He asked me out, you know [...] A couple of weeks ago. Roger. I turned him down, though" (25.135). Harry doesn't know what to make of this, though Cho is clearly trying to make him jealous. Roger Davies seems to be the Hogwarts Casanova in Book 5 – very handsome, and popular with the ladies.
