Burke is the founder of a specialty shop in Knockturn Alley called Borgin and Burkes. Dumbledore procures a memory from him, one that tells the story of the day Merope Riddle sold the precious Slytherin locket to him. Burke gave her a mere ten Galleons. When Voldemort left Hogwarts, Burke gave him a job in the shop.
