Sexuality and Sexual Identity Quotes

How we cite our quotes:

Quote #1

these hips
are free hips. (5-6)

A key part of the speaker's sexuality is her ability to control how and why she's sexy. That's why having "free" hips is central to her sexuality.

Quote #2

these hips have never been enslaved,
they go where they want to go
they do what they want to do. (8-10)

Once again, a huge part of the speaker's sexuality is her independence. Notice how her hips stand in for the whole person? We read about the speaker's hips, but it's easy to assume that the speaker is actually describing her entire being.

Quote #3

these hips are magic hips. (12)

Hey, who doesn't think that sexuality has a good dose of magic to it? We get the sense that, for our speaker, these hips make just about anything possible.
