Character Role Analysis


It's Bert against the world in this play. There are many people who could take on the role of antagonist in Inherit the Wind, so it's easier just to say that it's all of society. Bert isn't really up against any one person—it's a law that he considers to be unjust. And pretty much all of the townspeople oppose Bert. At least, at first.
