Nkiruka

Character Analysis

Nkiruka, whose name means "Future is Bright," is Little Bee's older sister, who takes on the name Kindness. Like Little Bee, Nkiruka flees her village when it's destroyed by oil company workers. But she and Little Bee are hunted down. When Andrew refuses to give the hunters his middle finger, Little Bee is made to wait underneath an old boat while Nkiruka is brutally raped, tortured, and murdered.
