Humbert stakes out Pavor manor, Clare Quilty's home on Grimm Road. He imagines all sorts of unsavory characters there. He decides to return in the morning.
Finding one of Lolita's old bobby pins in the glove compartment, Humbert has a twinge of nostalgia.
He passes a drive-in on the way back to his motel room. On the large screen, he sees a man raising a gun.
