Character Role Analysis

Jewel

Jewel doesn't do much in the novel outside of her role as Jim's leading lady. She helps Jim in some pretty key moments, but other than that, she is not much of a character in her own right. Conrad was never known for writing fully formed female characters, and Jewel is no exception.
