Guide Mentor

Character Role Analysis

Dr. Kenn

Dr. Kenn may be late to the party, but he’s still the best mentor figure in the entire book. After struggling through a series of rather ineffectual guides (Thomas a Kempis, the lovelorn Philip), Maggie finally hits the jackpot with Dr. Kenn. He is understanding, intelligent, and he helps Maggie during her most serious hour of need, after she breaks things off with Stephen and returns home disgraced. Dr. Kenn helps Maggie and supports her as she makes, and sticks with, a very difficult and unpopular decision.
