One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

by Ken Kesey

Analysis: Trivia

Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge

Ken Kesey hated the film version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) directed by Milos Forman and starring Jack Nicholson. He sued the producers because they didn’t use Chief Bromden’s narrative viewpoint to frame the story.

Much has been made of Ken Kesey’s drug use but he also served a few months in prison for possession of marijuana (after attempting to flee to Mexico to avoid the charge). (Source.)

For many years, Ken Kesey lived in Woodside, California, and worked in Menlo Park, California. Both towns are just down the road from Shmoop Headquarters.
