A Prayer for Owen Meany

A Prayer for Owen Meany

by John Irving

Sagamore

Character Analysis

Sagamore is Mr. Fish's dog. John can't help but think it's irreverent to name a dog after a Native American chief. Sagamore dies when a diaper truck runs him over (just another example of how this novel constantly combines the comic and the tragic).
