Protagonist

Character Role Analysis

Richard

Richard is the protagonist of the play – he's the main character, and we spend most of our time tracking his fall from power. Even though Richard has some major flaws and seems like the worst king ever, it's his death that makes this play a tragedy. (Go to "Genre" for more on this.)
