Slaughterhouse-Five Chapter 1, Section 21 Summary

  • The narrator opens his hotel's Gideon Bible and finds the story of God raining fire on Sodom and Gomorrah.
  • Sure, there may have been awful people in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. But the person the narrator really admires is Lot's wife, who looks back at the burning cities even though she's not supposed to: a human response to such destruction.
