- A couple of weeks after calling O'Hare, our narrator really does go to see him. This would've been in 1964, the year of the New York World's Fair.
- He brings his daughter Nanny and her best friend with him. It's the first time the two girls have ever left Cape Cod. They've never seen a river before.
- They all arrive at O'Hare's house.
