Slaughterhouse-Five Chapter 8, Section 6 Summary

  • Kilgore Trout lives in Ilium, about two miles from Billy Pilgrim. He has never made any money off his novels, so he makes a living managing newspaper subscription sales in Ilium.
  • Billy meets Trout in 1964 when Trout is bullying a group of newspaper boys to sell more subscriptions.
  • Billy recognizes Trout's face (having seen it on lots of book covers), but he can't place him. He wonders if Trout was a prisoner of war in Dresden.
