About Me

Intro

I'm smart. That's really all there is to it.

Okay, maybe not. I may be smart (and I am), but I'm also a really hard worker. Why? Because I'm passionate about everything I do, no matter what it is. It sort of brings out that whole over-achieving, competitive side of me, but in a good way…I swear. Hey, if you're gonna make it past my 5.69% acceptance rate, chances are you're the best of the best.

Before I go sounding like a total braggart, I should mention that I'm a big ol' softie at heart. I like people—working with them, getting to know them, chatting with them about who knows what in dorm hallways in the wee, small hours of the morning. I'm really into teamwork and networking. After all, the more brilliant—and different—minds you put on a problem (and I've got those in spades), the more likely you are to solve it. Some of my greatest achievements—Rose Bowl wins, Nobel Prizes, multi-billion dollar companies—came from the team effort of Stanford students.

Name

I'm the Cardinal. And the Tree. It's complicated.

Hometown

Stanford, CA. That's right. I've got my own town, and my very own (only slightly dysfunctional) post office.

Birthdate

October 1, 1891

Body Type

I've got 6,980 undergrads and 8,897 graduate students, making for a comfy cozy student body of 15,877 students total. That may seem relatively small compared to public universities, but I'm big in another sense—my campus consists of 8,180 acres and nearly 700 major buildings. There's a reason I'm called the Farm.

Current Living Situation

98% of undergraduates live right on my campus, and why wouldn't they? I've got sprawling lawns, gorgeous palm trees, beautiful architecture, and thirteen dining halls. Why would you ever need to leave? Hint: You don't. Seriously. Don't leave.

Relationship Status

Berkeley and I aren't the best of friends. Last I checked, I'm the one with the axe. To be fair, though, Berkeley students care a lot more about this rivalry than I do. Probably because I'm not insecure...

Religion

I've got my very own church, but anybody's welcome. And I mean anybody.

Politics

So here's the deal. I've got the Hoover Institution—you've seen the tower. While that place looms large in my history, I'm not at all a conservative school. In fact, most of my students lean pretty far to the left. Those that don't, though, have a fairly loud and confident voice on campus. You could swing for either side of the fence, and while you might get into some arguments, I tend to be pretty chill about the whole thing. After all, I'm too busy coding the next big thing in Silicon Valley.

You should apply to me if...

you're at the top of your class and you've got a fascinating life story.
