Stargirl

Stargirl

by Jerry Spinelli

Mr. McShane

Character Analysis

Mr. McShane is the faculty representative to the State oratorical contest. He drives Stargirl and Leo to the competition in Phoenix. His random trivia about the Moa, an extinct bird, gives Stargirl a fantastic focus for the revised version of the speech that will win her the competition, entitled "I Might Have Heard a Moa." He puts up with Stargirl's silliness in a good-humored way on the way to and from the competition.
